Progress on the Salmon Run

  Photographs taken by Patricia Gaspar, at the "Salmon Leave Home festival, May 2 2010 at Hoy Creek. The department of Fisheries and Oceans, run across British Columbia eighteen hatcheries, among them, Hoy/Scott Watershed Society in Coquitlam, where members of the public were invited to help to release ten thousand Coho salmon smolts from the hatchery into Hoy Creek. Volunteers, and children, were working in a very rainy day, for four hours, to transfer the fish from the rearing pond to the rain-swollen creek.
  That festival was held, In an effort to raise public awareness about the miracle of the salmon life cycle and the importance of protecting our salmon in every way possible. Raised from the egg stage at the hatchery, these Coho will make their way along a series of creeks and rivers, including the mighty Fraser, ending up in the Pacific Ocean.

The Evergreen Cultural Centre is a theatre and music venue in Coquitlam, British Columbia, opened in October 1996 by former Coquitlam Mayor Lou Sekora. The design team was headed by Thom Weeks of Architectura, and the contract was completed by Proscenium Architecture.

The Centre features a 264-seat black box theatre (with configurable seating from stadium to flat floor), a fully equipped rehearsal hall, three art studios, and a 1,500-square-foot (140 m2) art gallery with adjoining gallery shop. The Centre is owned by the City of Coquitlam, and is located in Coquitlam's Town Centre Park, overlooking Lafarge Lake.

Programming at the Evergreen Cultural Centre includes live theatre, comedy, musical concerts, visual arts workshops, festivals, and more. The facility serves as the home theatre for the Stage 43 Theatrical Society, and is also part of the Arts Club Theatre Company circuit that brings popular plays to the venue. The Centre is the home venue for the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Coastal Sound Music Academy. The Water's Edge Festival, a 25 hour continuous music festival, is held at the Centre and on the shores of neighbouring Lafarge Lake.

Also housed in the complex is the Coquitlam Innovation Centre, the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, and the Tourist Information Centre. A second 750-seat auditorium has been planned, but has yet to be funded.

The Hoy Creek Hatchery is a volunteer operated Salmon Hatchery located along Hoy Creek in the Town Center area of Coquitlam, BC. Our Hatchery is in an urban setting located between many high density residential buildings. A linear park was designed to run along the northern half of Hoy Creek. It is located on the former Brewer property, who ran a small farm and hatchery.

The Hoy Creek salmon hatchery is designed to enhance the salmon stocks within Hoy/Scott creek watershed. To do this we use returning salmon to collect eggs and sperm. After the eggs hatch, the salmon are raised in a controlled setting, to improve their chance of survival. The salmon are then released, dependant on species, at different times of the year.

Rescatame / Rescue me

A veces en nuestra vida, por diversos motivos, necesitamos de una mano amiga que nos ayude a ver mejor el camino a seguir.
A todos aquellos que no dudan en ayudar a todo aquel que los necesita y a todos los que me ayudaron la lo largo de mi vida, va mi sincero agradecimiento.

Sometimes in our lives, for various reasons, we need a helping hand to help us better see the way forward.
To those who do not hesitate to help anyone in need and those who helped me along in the course of my life, my sincere thanks.

Cabeza de Mujer / Woman's Head

Esta es una escultura que modelé en arcilla, con modelo en vivo. Luego que la terminé de modelarla en arcilla, le puse los taseles, que son láminas finas de papel aluminio, para armar el molde que lo hice de yeso. La primer capa de yeso fue coloreada con tempera roja. Esto es porque el yeso es blanco, y cuando estoy cincelando tengo que tener una referencia de cuan cerca estoy de el cemento, entonces cuando veo el yeso de color rojo, ahi comienzo a cincelar con mucho cuidado, para no romper ninguna parte de la escultura. Después de que el yeso fraguó, saqué toda la arcilla, lo lavé y le pase cera al molde de yeso, uno todas las partes del molde, con agregandole yeso y lo cierro. Cerrar el molde significa, unir todas las partes como en un rompe cabezas. Una vez hecho este paso, cubrí todo el interior del molde con cemento y lo deje secar una semana. El interior es hueco, solo hice una capa de cemento de 5 centímetros de espesor.
Las fotos, las tomé en el patio de mi casa en Argentina, una tarde de primavera.


This is a sculpture modeled in clay, with a live model. After the finished model it in clay, I put the Taselaar, which are thin sheets of aluminum foil, to assemble the mold that I made of plaster. The first layer of plaster was stained with red tempera. This is because the plaster is white, and when I'm carving I have to have a reference of how close I am to the cement, then when I see the red cast, there begin to chisel carefully so as not to break any part of the sculpture . After the set plaster, took out all the clay, washed it and pass it to the plaster mold wax, a mold all parties, with added gypsum and close. Close mold means, to unite all the parties as in a puzzle. Once this is done, I covered the entire inside of the mold with cement and let dry for a week. The interior is hollow, just did a layer of cement 5 cm thick.
The photos were taken in the backyard of my home in Argentina, a spring afternoon.

Palomas en el cielo de Navidad./ Birds in the Christmas Sky

Técnica: Pintura acrílica sobre lienzo.
Esta pintura la hice en vísperas de Navidad, cuando, mis hijos eran chiquitos y lo pusimos en nuestro primer arbolito de Navidad.
La idea era hacer algo entre nosotros para adornar la casa y que quedara de recuerdo en la casa. Años después, cuando volví a Argentina, lo encontré y me trajo a mi memoria todos esos días mágicos previos a Navidad que son siempre tan cálidos especiales y hermosos.

This painting I did on Christmas Eve, when my kids were little and we put on our first Christmas tree.
The idea was to do something with us to decorate the house and stay at home souvenir. Years later, when I returned to Argentina, I found it and brought me to my heart all those magical days before Christmas are always so special and beautiful warm.

Naturaleza Muerta / Still life

Naturaleza muerta, realizada en una amplia gama de colores tierra.
Conservo esta pintura con mucho cariño, porque como no tenía el dinero para comprar la tela para pintar, lo hice sobre un cartón. La idea es no dejar que las limitaciones nos paren, tenemos que seguir motivandonos y haciendo lo que realmente amamos.

Still Life, held in a wide range of earth colors.
I keep this painting with great care, because I did not have the money to buy fabric paint, canvas, so I did it on cardboard. The idea is to not let limitations stop us, we have to keep motivating us and doing what we really love.

Este dibujo, estuvo expuesto en la Galería de Arte ArtPoint en Calgary, Canadá en la primer exposición de arte que hice en este país.

Teoría de la relatividad de Einstein / Einstein's theory of relativity

Técnica Dibujo a tinta china.
Este es un boceto que probablemente termine siendo grabado cuando encuentre un taller en donde hacerlo.
La idea principal es reflejar parte del dolor que causan los políticos y corporaciones, encargados de mover las fichas del tablero de ajedrez de nuestras vidas, decidiendo las estúpidas guerras, jugando así con el dolor de la gente. Generando violencia, desnutrición y familias y pueblos enteros destruidos.
Por eso dibuje a Einstein agarrándose la cabeza de solo pensar en qué termino toda su teoría de la relatividad.

Technical Drawing in ink.
This is a sketch that is likely to be recorded when you find a workshop in which to do so.
The main idea is to reflect some of the pain caused by politicians and corporations, responsible for moving the chess pieces on the board of our lives, deciding the stupid wars, playing well with the pain of the people. Generating violence, malnutrition and families and entire villages destroyed.
So draw a holding Einstein's head just thinking about what ended his theory of relativity.

Prohibido hacer Guerra/ No War

Cuando mi hijo me invito a hacer la exposición junto con él en el Gato Negro , se me ocurrió preparar este cartel de "Prohibido hacer Guerra", que me parece debería estar en todo el mundo.
Creo que no hay más que explicar.

When my son invited me to make the exhibition together with him at the Black Cat Pub, I came prepared this lineup of "No to War", which I think should be all over the world.
I think there is no more to explain.

Peras/Pears

Siempre me gustaron las frutas como modelo para pintar, por sus formas tan atrayentes y colores y por ser una de las mas hermosas expresiones de lo que la naturaleza nos da. En este caso para representarlas, elegí un estilo country, que ví en una galeria de arte en un viaje que hice a Seattle que me encantó.

Technique: Painting acríica, pencils, pens, indelible ink and bitumen on wood veneer.

I always liked the fruit as a model for paint, so attractive forms and colors and for being one of the most beautiful expressions of what nature gives us. In this case, to represent them, I chose a country style, I saw in an art gallery on my trip to Seattle that I loved.

Frutas y Vegetación./Fruits and Vegetables.

Cuando era chica, mucho tiempo atrás viví un tiempo en el campo con mis abuelos paternos. Desde entonces me maravilló ver como mi abuela hacia la quinta y con el paso del tiempo, apreciar cómo una simple y pequeña semilla plantada en la tierra se convertía en un espectáculo de hojas, flores y frutos y todo provenía dentro de esa diminuta partícula.
Este es un simple homenaje a esos días de sol, de tierra, colores y felicidad.
Y ya que hablamos de felicidad, este cuadro fue uno de los que estuvo también, en la exposición que hice junto a mi hijo mayor en "El Gato Negro", en Argentina.


As a child, long ago lived a while in the field with my paternal grandparents. Since then, I marveled to see how my grandmother into the herbs garden and over time, see how a simple little seed planted in the ground became a show of leaves, flowers and fruits and all came within the tiny particle.
This is a simple tribute to those days of sun, earth, colors and happiness.
And speaking of happiness, this scenario was one that was also in the exhibition I did with my eldest son in "The Black Cat" in Argentina,

Esta foto la saqué cuando estaba viviendo sola en Coquitlam, con mi hijo menor. Recuerdo que en esa época estaba buscando trabajo y no conseguía nada. Tiempos difíciles si los hubo, fueron aquellos. Llegué de la calle y me fui a preparar unos mates, cuando de repente me vi reflejada en la tapa de la olla que iba a usar para hacer la cena y pensé; "este es mi universo de todos los días y no lo veo por tener mi cabeza puesta sólo en preocupaciones". Tomé la foto y la trabajé con fotoshop, porque mas allá de la oblagación de salir a buscar trabajo en una verdadera jungla de cemento, yo ya tenia un hermoso universo. Si observan con detenimiento las mariposas que salen desde mi mano van volando hasta uno de mis cuadros que salio reflejado en el fondo y que estuvo expuesto en ArtPoint Gallery, en Calgary, en la primer exposición que hice al poco tiempo de llegar a Canadá.

This picture was taken when I was living alone in Coquitlam, with my youngest son. I remember at that time was looking for work and got nothing; those were hard times. I came inside from the street and went to prepare some mates, when suddenly I saw myself reflected in the top of the pot that would be used to make dinner and thought, "This is my universe every day and do not see it having just put my head in worry. " Take a picture and work with photoshop, because beyond the obligation to go to Job Search in a real concrete jungle, I already had a Hermes universe. If you look closely at the butterflies emerging from my hands go flying up one of my paintings that is reflected in the background.That was exposed in ArtPoint Gallery, Calgary, the first exhibition which I did soon after arriving at Canada.

El Hatchery/The Hatchery

Es un trabajo que hice con mucho cariño, ya que allí tuve la oportunidad de descubrir muchas cosas hermosas acerca de los salomes , su ciclo y la naturaleza. Rodeada por un grupo de gente maravillosa que dona su tiempo voluntariamente, aprendi de ellos, a cuidar y a querer ese lugar.
Es mi pequeño homenaje, que a manera de presente para ellos y a las bellezas que ese lugar me ofrecío, les dedico.

A job I did with love, because there I had the opportunity to discover many beautiful things about Salome, the cycle of nature. Surrounded by a group of wonderful people who donate their time voluntarily, I learned from them, to care and love that place.

Hojas en el piso/ Leaves on the floor

Mi primer otoño en BC, fue como una fiesta de colores para mis ojos. Me gusta tanto caminar entre las hojas rojas, amarillas y anaranjadas que se desprenden tan suavemente de los árboles. Ver como danzan en el aire hasta llegar al piso y como combinan con el verde del pasto. Es muy magico todo eso de caminar entre colores para mi. En esta es foto busque reflejar tanta belleza que la naturaleza nos da en solo una hoja que habia en el piso. Luego con la misma forma, pero mas chiquita, fui trabajando con transparencias para que se vea el pasto.

My first autumn in BC, it was like a feast of colors for my eyes. I liked to walk underneath the leaves red, yellow and orange that flow so smoothly from the trees. They dance in the air as they tumble the ground where they combine with the green grass. All that is very magical to walk between the colors for me. In this picture, I reflect such beauty that nature gives us in just a sheet that was on the ground. Then with the same shape, but smaller, I worked with a transparency so that you can see the grass.

My little Spring/ My pequeña Primavera.

Esta foto la saqué una mañana que estaba nevando muchisimo en Coquitlam y yo tenía que ir al curso de busqueda de trabajo. Mientras desayunaba y me preguntaba cómo me iba vestir para salir a enfrentar el día, me vi reflejada en la pava que se había calentado para tomar unos mates. Todo estaba tan tibiecito en la cocina, era mi pequeña primavera llena de mariposas y flores en medio del invierno canadiense.

This picture was taken one morning it was snowing a lot in Coquitlam and I had to go to job search course. Over breakfast and I was wondering how I was dressing to go out and face the day, I saw myself reflected in the kettle that had been heated to make some mates. Everything was so cozy in the kitchen, my little spring was full of butterflies and flowers in the middle of Canadian winter.

Luna en Coquitlam/ Moon at Coquitlam

Estaba sentada en mi balcón, en Coquitlam en una noche de verano, mirando la Luna, algo que me produce un inmenso placer. Recuerdo que tome unas cuantas fotos. Cuando las pase a la computadora y note que no habían salido las estrellas que ví esa noche, entonces se me ocurrió crear una Mini Galaxia Feliz, con Planetas felices, auroras boreales de paz y amor de las que brotan mariposa y flores de alegría de alrededor de la Luna hermosa.

I was sitting on my balcony in Coquitlam on a summer night, watching the moon, which gives me immense pleasure.

I remember taking a few pictures. I went to the computer and noticed that the stars I saw that night, weren't visible, then I thought about creating a mini Galaxy, happy, happy with planets, northern lights of peace and love of butterflies and flowers that spring joyfully around the beautiful Moon.

Cada Mañana /Each Morning

Cada mañana es una nueva oportunidad, Cada mañana, es un nuevo despertar y compartir con los que queremos, antes de salir a la realidad del mundo. Cada mañana, tenemos la posibilidad de organizar en nuestra mente como queremos que sea nuestro día, nuestra vida. Por eso yo pinto la mía cada mañana con los colores y los mas hermosos paisajes que me pueda imaginar, ya que soy yo la encargada de llevar felicidad y alegría a mi vida.

Every morning is a new opportunity, every morning is a new awakening and share with those we love, before heading out to the real world. Every morning, we are able to organize in our minds as we want our day, our life. So I paint my own every morning with the colors and the most beautiful scenery that I can think of, and that I am responsible to bring happiness and joy to my life.

Gaby en el café/Gaby at Pub.

Acá pueden ver el proceso de hacer una chapa de metal.
Primero, dibuje un boceto de lo que quería logra en la chapa, luego cubrí la chapa con dos manos de capa asfáltica, de los dos lados, y sobre la cara en que iba a realizar el grabado,calque el boceto con papel carbónico. Luego con una aguja dibuje sobre la capa asfáltica, levantando las partes iban a ser trabajadas con ácido. De ahí en mas es un proceso de levantar con la aguja las lineas que serán mas profundas y cubrir con goma laca, las que ya fueron al ácido y no son tan profundas. Esto, da una calidad especial a la linea, que según su profundidad, llevara mas o menos tinta, dando textura y gradientes cuando entintamos y estampamos la chapa.
Este grabado intenta denunciar acerca de la triste vida de muchas mujeres que por diferentes circunstancias llegan a trabajar en la prostitución, quedando sus vidas en manos de personas abusivas que ven a la mujer, aún en estos días, como seres inferiores, casi esclavos.
Para el boceto de este grabado posó Gabriela, una compañera mía de la escuela de Bellas Artes, que jamás fumó un cigarrillo en su vida, y que tiene una alta autoestima como mujer. Cuando Gaby vio mi trabajo terminado, me quería matar, me dijo: "Como me dibujaste así como una loca barata?" A lo que le conteste que había visto su interior.
Este trabajo estuvo expuesto en el Salón Nacional de Grabado y Dibujo, en Argentina, y por este motivo fui invitada a ser miembro de la "Asociación de Amigos del Museo de Grabado", lo que me valió la incitación a participar en el Concurso de Ex-Libris 2001, en la 27* Feria del Libro de Buenos Aires, donde tuve el inmenso placer de conocer al Negro Fontanarrosa en persona y que me autografiara su libro: "Los clásicos según Fontanarrosa"
This picture tries to report about the sad life of many women who for various reasons come to work in prostitution, leaving their lives in the hands of abusers who are women, even today, as inferior, almost slaves.
For a sketch of this print posed Gabriela, a classmate of mine from art school, who never smoked a cigarette and having a high self-esteem as a woman. When Gaby was I finished, I wanted to kill, he said: "As well as drew me a slut?" To which I replied that I had seen her inner self.
This work was exhibited at the National Exhibition of Engravings and Drawings, in Argentina,and that is why I was invited to be a member of the Association of Friends of the Museum of Engravings, "which earned me the incentive to participate in the contest Ex -Libris 2001, at the 27 * Book Fair of Buenos Aires, where I had the great pleasure of meeting in person "Negro Fontanarrosa" and he autographed to me his book: "The classics according to Fontanarrosa"

Mujer ecológica / Eco Women

Les presento un grabado en metal. Aguatinta y aguafuerte lo que en la jerga de arte llamamos "una chapa".
En esta chapa, la mujer esta pensando reflexionando sobre ella misma como mujer, mientras de su pelo se descuelgan delicadas y diminutas mujeres, que están en su cabeza, representando las distintas etapas que la mujer atraviesa en su vida, hija, madre y esposa.
El árbol que atrapa su mano, simboliza las raíces y las costumbres a las que la mujer con tanta naturalidad esta próxima y transmite de generación en generación con sus arrullos de cuna, comidas y creencias.
Siento un especial aprecio por este cuadro, porque estuvo en una exposición que hicimos con mi hijo mayor Nicolás y su banda, "Loop" en "El Gato Negro", un teatro bar de Temperley, a pocos días de haber llegado en mi primer a Argentina desde que me fuí a Canadá.

I introduce an etching. Aquatint and etching it in the jargon of art called "a plate".
In this plate, the woman is thinking about thinking about herself as a woman, while her hair and tiny hook of delicate women, who are in his head, representing the different stages a woman goes through in his life, daughter, mother and wife.
The tree that catches his hand, symbolizes the roots and traditions to which women so naturally the next, and transmitted from generation to generation with their cooing lullaby, meals and beliefs.
I feel a special appreciation for this plate, because it was in an exhibition I did with my oldest son Nicolás and his band, "Loop" in "The Black Cat", a theater bar Temperley, a few days of arriving in my first year in Argentina since I went to live to Canada.

Esperando por la Paz / Waiting for the Peace

Esta pintura la hice motivada por una imagen que vi en un noticiero Argentino y me lleno el corazón de tristeza. La nota mostraba muy rápidamente a la gente que estaba sufriendo en medio de la guerra de Iraq. En sus desesperadas caras se veía la desolación y el dolor por el que ellos estaban pasando. Esta imagen me quedo tan grabada en mi mente la mirada perdida de esa persona y de la que estaba llorando a su lado, que sentí que no podía dejar de retratarlos.
Este cuadro, estuvo expuesto en Argentina, y me dieron una medalla por mención especial.

This painting was prompted by a image I saw in an Argentinian news on TV, and it fills my heart with sadness. The note showed very quickly some people who were suffering in the midst of the war in Iraq. In their desperate faces I could see the devastation and pain that they were feeling. This image I was so stuck in my mind of that person staring and she was crying at his side, I felt I could not stop portraying.

Bailando un Tango/ Dancing Tango.

La intención era reflejar algunos pasos que siempre capturaron mi atención en Argentina, cuando veía dos personas bailar tango con tanta pasión y entrega. Asi fue que empezó este cuadro. Esa sensualidad que vuela en el aire que rodea a la pareja que lo baila, que se comienza a generar cuando la música empieza a sonar. Ese sentimiento compartido y esa conexión sin palabras que distinguen a esta danza , que se siente con el alma y que los bailarines la traducen en los característicos movimientos que distinguen al Tango.

The intention was to reflect some dancing steps that always caught my attention in Argentina, when I used to see two people dancing tango with such passion and commitment. So, in this way, it began this painting. That sensuality that flies in the air surrounding the couple who dance, which begins to generate when the music starts. That sentiment shared, and that connection without words that distinguish this dance, that it feels in the soul and the dancers translate in movements result in the characteristic that distinguishes the Tango.

Este naive lo empecé en Argentina y lo terminé en Calgary, Canadá.
Estuvo en la exposición en la Galería de Arte ArtPoint, en Calgary,que hice en el 2006. En este lugar iba a hacer cursos de dibujo con modelo en vivo. Siempre soñé con vivir en lugar como éste, rodeada montañas, lagos y de todos los paisajes maravillosos que la naturaleza puede ofrecer. Quién iba a decir que después de mucho andar, encontré mi lugar soñado tal como en mi naive.

This naive I started in Argentina and ended up in Calgary, Canada.
Was on exhibition in the Art Gallery ArtPoint in Calgary, I did in 2006. In this place was going to do a course in drawing with live model, as it used to do in art school in Argentina.
I always dreamed of living in place like this, which I painted in my naive, surrounded by mountains, lakes and all the beautiful scenery that nature can offer. Who would have thought that after a long walk, I found my dream place as I had painted.

Qué maravilloso que es el Mundo!

El mundo, la Tierra, la esfera azul, el planeta de agua, como querramos llamarlo, es nuestro más preciado tesoro, el hogar en el que vivimos miles de millones de personas. Algunas hacemos todo lo posible por cuidarlo, otras lamentablemente no. El mundo está dispuesto a darnos lo mejor de él para que no nos falte nada. Tenemos ríos, mares, montañas, valles, colinas, playas, lagos. Cuidemoslo con nuestras buenas acciones, no sembrando dolor sino amor. Llenemos nuestro mundo de flores, arboles y paz, para todos los hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad que en él habitamos.


The world, the Earth, the blue sphere, the planet of water, as we want to call it, is our most precious treasure, the home we live thousands of millions of people. Some do everything possible to care for of it, others no unfortunately. The world is willing to give us the best of it has so we are not missing anything. We have rivers, seas, mountains, valleys, hills, beaches, lakes. We have to care for the planet with our good deeds, sowing love, but not pain. Let us fill our world with flowers, trees and peace for all men and women of goodwill who inhabit it.

Bird and Flowers/ Pájaro y Vagetación.

Técnica: Xilografía. Grabado sobre chapa de madera terciada a dos colores.

La tinta negra, la diluí con aceite de lino y de fondo use tinta roja. Esa estampa la hice en MarthaStudio, en Winnipeg, en un día que afuera nos tapaba la nieve. Recuerdo que el bus no pudo llegar hasta allí y tuve que ir patinando hasta el atelier, ya que era imposible caminar sobre la vereda que estaba cubierta de hielo. En contraposición al blanco y el frío de afuera le dí a mi estampa, todo el calor que el color me permitió, como si este pájaro estuviera en un clima tropical.


The black ink, it was diluted with linseed oil and substantive use red ink. That picture I made in MarthaStudio in Winnipeg, on a day we hid out in the snow. I remember the bus could not get there and I went skating to the studio because it was impossible to walk on the sidewalk was covered with ice. In contrast to white and cold outside I gave him my picture, all the heat that allowed me to color, as if this bird was in a tropical climate.

Este grabado lo hice en un curso sobre relief/ engraving en linoleum, que estaba tomando en MarthaStudio, Art Gallery, en Winnipeg. Era mi primer Halloween en Canadá y por donde quiera que fuera veía brujas, fantasmas, gente disfrazada y todas esas cosas de terror con que se suele festejar este día en el hemisferio norte, así que mio grabado no estuvo al margen de todo lo que me rodeaba.



This picture I did it in a course on relief engraving on linoleum I was taking, MarthaStudio, Art Gallery in Winnipeg. It was my first Halloween in Canada and wherever I went I saw witches, ghosts, people dressed up, and all that king of horror things which is usually celebrate this day in the Northern hemisphere, so my engraving was not outside all that I was inspiring by my all surrounding .

Este grabado lo hice en MarthaStudio Art Gallery, en Winnipeg, en un curso dictado por una profesora de arte de la Univerisidad de Manitoba. La consigna era trabajar fondos blancos muy amplios, con simples líneas muy finas a estampar y que el diseño tuviera continuidad lineal también. En criollo, todo el dibujo tenia que ser una misma línea Les cuento que no fue fácil, pero lo logré.


This linocuts I did it in MarthaStudio Art Gallery in Winnipeg, in a course taught by a professor of art Univerisidad of Manitoba. The task was to work very large white backgrounds with simple fine lines to be printed and that the design would also linear continuity. In Creole, the whole picture had to be a line I tell them that it was not easy, but I managed.

Los arboles, esos gigantes, que dan fresco y sombra a todos nosotros por igual y que en verano con sus ramas llenas de hojas. A veces con flores, que parecen confundirse con las nubes cuando nos paramos debajo de sus copas para mirar hacia al cielo entre su follaje. Los arboles, testigos mudos del tiempo en algún lugar de la tierra, que ayudan no solo a embellecer y oxigenar el aire, sino simplemente a dar vida a este planeta para que este sea cada día más hermoso.
Este grabado estuvo en la primer exposición de arte que hice en Pompeya, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ahora está en muy buenas manos.

The trees, the giants, which provide shade and cool us all equally in summer with its leafy branches. Sometimes with flowers that seem to blend with the clouds as we stand under her glasses to look at the sky through the foliage. The trees, silent witnesses of the time somewhere on earth, which helps not only to beautify and oxygenate the air, but simply to give life to this planet to make it more and more beautiful.
This picture was in the first art show I did in Pompeya, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Now it is in very good hands.

Les presento mi primer grabado. Sobre esta madera por primera vez use las gubias, herramientas que me empañan desde ese día, hasta hoy, para ayudarme a expresar a través del grabado, una de las técnicas que más me gusta realizar. Mirar esta estampa para mi marca un antes y un después en mi vida artística, porque jamás pensé que iba a sentir tanta alegría y plenitud cada vez que hago un grabado.

Vibora de dos cabezas/ Snake with two heads

Es una recreación de la "Cultura de la Aguada" que se desarrolló en la región fronteriza entre las provincias argentinas de Catamarca y La Rioja, entre el 600 y 900 de nuestra era ubicándose dentro de las culturas del período agroalfarero medio. Su influencia, sin embargo, se hizo sentir en distintas partes del noroeste de la Argentina y zonas del norte de Chile.
La cultura de La Aguada, corresponde al período Medio o de Integración cultural en el noroeste argentino y es considerada como el momento culminante del arte precolombino de la región.

It is a recreation of the "Culture of Aguada" which was developed in the border region between the Argentine provinces of Catamarca and La Rioja, between 600 and 900 is located within the cultures of the Middle Ceramic period. Its influence, however, was felt in various places of northwestern Argentina and northern areas of Chile.
The culture of La Aguada, for the Middle period or cultural integration in northwestern Argentina, is considered the highlight of this artistic period.

Me inspiré en los murales que fueron hechos por los indios de la Aguada, en la provincia de Catamarca, Argentina. Trabajaron estas imágenes en las piedras y cerámicas.

I was inspired by the murals that were made by the indians of the La Aguada , in the province of Catamarca, Argentina. They worked these images on the stones and ceramics.

Siempre me pregunté si habría similitudes entre los aborígenes de Canadá y Argentina. Esta tarea me tomó muchos días de ir a la biblioteca pública de Coquitlam a consultar libros sobre arte Haida. Cuando llegaba a casa me ponía a buscar material en internet para leer formas y parecidos entre los dos países. Encontré la Cultura de la Aguada, en Argentina, que me pareció muy representativa en cuanto también se focalizaba en animales, que eran importantes para su subsistencia, como lo hace el arte Haida en Canadá.

I always wondered if there would be similarities between the aboriginal people of Canada and Argentina. After many days of going to the Coquitlam Public Library, and consulting books on Haida art, when I got home I set to find material on the Internet to read forms and similarities between the two countries. I found the Aguada Culture in Argentina, which I found very representative as it also was focused on animals that were important to their survival, as does the Haida art in Canada.
