Screenprint at Malaspina Printmakers.

Screenprint

A bunch of great people from all over the World, (Iceland, Poland, Britain, Canada, and I from Argentina), joined Matt Parisien, the guy holding a roller between his hands, and who was in charge to teach Screenprint at Malaspina Printmakers.

We explored the basics of screenprint, which is a process derived from stencil printing, including the direct stencil methods, photographic based screen printing techniques- inks and modifiers. But,  most of the time, we worked with water-based ink.

Screenprint works very well for photo-based, hand drawn (my favorite), or computer manipulated images: Photoshop, something I must learn in the future.
La serigrafía funciona muy bien con el proceso fotográfico, dibujo a mano (mi favorito), o con imágenes manipuladas con computadora: Photoshop, algo que debo aprender en el futuro.

Monotypes, papers, liftprint and chine collé.

My Tuesdays in April at Malaspina.

Monotypes liftprint and chine collé: the painterly print.

In this picture I am with Anne Gaze, great Vancouver artist, and in the middle of us, Heather Aston, who is a  printmaker that works out of her home studio and a printmaking studio on Granville Island in Vancouver. I have the pleasure to share Malaspina Studio with them.
                                Thank you Heather!

The experience of working in a studio atmosphere was wonderful.

This printmaking process is one that involves transformation and discovery.

In this course I explored making oil-based monotypes while I learned other printing  techniques such as liftprint and chine collé.

Along with theses techniques, I was introduced to different papers (Japanese, like mulberry, kozo, or  rice). Using materials, like cheap oil painting brushes, Q-tips, wooden chopsticks, objects with rigid textures (bubble wrap, toothbrushes, combs, plastic forks, wire brushes, corrugated cardboard, or anything else you can find that you might want to draw with or make impressions with).

My prints

The course opened to me new possibilities for expression in my artwork, enjoying, and exploring colour, form, line, and different techniques. There were demonstrations, discussions, and critiques as well. Art is learning every single day.

KABOOM!

I am so happy because I was invited to be part of the  KaBoom! The Port Moody Art Explosion,  last April 5, 2014 at City Hall Galleria, 100 Newport Drive, Port Moody , at 7pm.

KaBoom! brouthg together Port Moody-based artists in a creatively-combustible evening of art and performance.

It was an explosion of self-made fun and entertainment, where we invite the audience to participate in hands-on activities.

Here, I am talking with Sonia Vaz Mais, Port Moody's artist and friend of mine, and with a friend of her. We were waiting for the Fortune Teller.

About Me

My photo
Patricia
I have been creating artwork since I was a child old enough to hold a pencil, and I also love to write. My artwork has evolved over the years reflecting who I am and what I want to say, especially since the time when, I moved to Canada in 2005. Inspired by the spiritual, metaphysical and subconscious human mind, I use a range of media. A favorite of mine are soft pastels on Ingres, acrylics, in paintings. I am really happy when I am making engravings. In Canada I lived in Winnipeg, during 2005 for almost one year, in which time I did some engravings and Art courses when I was a member of Martha Studio Art Gallery. When I moved to Calgary, 2006 - 2007 I participated to 3rd Annual Unseen Art at ArtPoint Gallery and Studios. I have been a volunteer as an Art Teacher and Spanish Teacher at Queen Elizabeth High School. In Argentina, I participated in many Art Exhibitions and received many special Mentions.
